HISTORY MADE! - GOVERNMENT OF ALBERTA X UNION SKILLED TRADES TRAINING
Posted on April 18, 2024
IUOE LOCAL 955 is incredibly pleased to announce that for the first time ever, an agreement has been made between the Government of Alberta and a skilled-trades union to fund a pilot training project through IUOE LOCAL 955’s Budd Coutts Apprenticeship and Education Centre.
“It’s not an overstatement to call this funding agreement between the Alberta government and IUOE LOCAL 955 historic,” said Chris Flett, Business Manager, IUOE LOCAL 955.
“Union training centres like Budd Coutts Apprenticeship and Education Centre provide high-quality skills training that support our economy and meet the needs of industry. To have the province recognize this by providing funding support, speaks volumes. I feel incredibly proud IUOE LOCAL 955 was the first union in Alberta to ever receive support like this, and we look forward to continuing our work training the next generation of skilled crane and hoist professionals, and more.”
Thank you Premier Danielle Smith, Advanced Education Minister, Rajan Sawhney and the provincial government for working with Local 955 on this unprecedented agreement. We can’t wait to show you what union training can do.
